As a common rule, the best time and place to learn is on the job. Here, you can easily pick up a skill, leverage available resources, and improve your conversations over time as you interact with your clients, customers, and even colleagues. Today, there are tons of folks who want to transition into customer success roles across the globe. Despite the huge amount of time, effort, and preparations geared towards making a successful career switch to these CS roles, there are certain traits and characteristics that an aspiring customer success professional or an existing CS specialist can integrate into their day-to-day activities that will serve as a boost towards delivering that awesome and expected work results.

In today’s write-up, we will discuss 5 productivity hacks I have found very helpful for customer success managers to get more work done and effectively prioritize tasks.

Think Schedule and plan ahead

To many, this may sound very familiar and common. But in reality, a few do have plans for their day. While I’m a huge fan of flexibility, introducing daily planning into your routine makes it easy to create balance in your life. As a CS manager, finding relevance with the lots of moving pieces at once can be daunting. Typically, you should have a To-do list and a run down of how your day will go. Review tasks, assignments, and follow-ups with clients, colleagues, and other stakeholders. After, re-align with prioritizing these deliverables and ensure they correspond with the plans of other CS professionals.

Get Inspired — Leveling your personal energy

One of the best productivity hacks is learning what works for each of us. Finding the best time and place you tend to get more work done and leaning towards that will help boost positive results. If mornings are when you feel positive, please assign priority tasks and vice versa. Constantly space your tasks to improve and level up your creative process.

Keep Up with your Mental Health

A CSM drives and sees to the overall satisfaction of his/her clients. This can’t be done in a toxic and messed-up human state. Just as physical fitness helps our bodies stay strong, maintaining a stable emotional and mental health helps to bring about increased learning, creativity, and productivity levels. CS managers also need to look at improving positivity and self-care at work. You sure know it’s time to leave when your mental state is greatly affected by your environment or workspace.

Regularly Snooze notifications or set up Do not disturb

Scientifically, it’s proven that the fewer the distraction at work, the more productive it becomes. This makes it imperative and a good productivity hack to organize your notifications. Responding to emails throughout the day, checking trends on social media, and many more keep you distracted from work and often break your creative cycle. Pausing notifications and setting up a reminder to review them at a later time during lunch breaks or routine walks will help you cope effectively with distractions.

Automate repetitive tasks and implore a structured work process

Finally, with the emergence of different work stacks and tools, automating repetitive and redundant tasks has become so much easy. CS managers can harness the power of email scheduling software to plan and prepare their emails ahead. Hubspot, GetResponse, MailChimp, UserEngage, and others allow you to schedule emails directly in Gmail. If there are certain parts of your work based on processes and specific patterns, it is advisable to create or design a process blueprint that checks all boxes and can be repeated for all related events over again. This saves time and helps prioritize other tasks.

The best CSMs are proactive thinkers, constantly curating innovative methods for how they get work done and ensuring they do not miss out on any activity.
